I became convinced that I needed one of these when all my regular rubber spatulas got worn down to stubs and I began to wonder... "where did all that rubber go?" I have thrown them all away by now but you know what I'm talking about.
So what is a heat resistant spatula? A heat resistant spatula or a high temperature spatula can withstand temperatures of 500-600 degrees without melting, which means it can rest in about any liquid or pan that you may use in cooking. They are the perfect tool for handling hot sugary mixtures but personally I use them most when cooking eggs. It's the perfect tool for wiping down the sides of the hot egg pan when scrambling eggs.
These spatulas come in different brands, sizes, handle lengths and prices. They can be found at all restaurant supply stores, specialty cookware stores and in housewares of some department stores. I paid $8 for this one, purchased as a restaurant supply store.
I have actually banned all other spatulas from my kitchen and use these exclusively even when temperature is not an issue.
